You might be wondering, "Who’s Gaudi?" Antoni Gaudi was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. The city of Barcelona is decorated with many of his buildings, so much so, that the city has become synonymous with "Gaudi". My wife’s family is affiliated with Gaudi in a very special way. His first large residential commission, Casa Vicens, built between 1883 and 1888, has remained in the family for more than a hundred years. My father-in-law grew up in this most unusual home. Red earth bricks, multi-colored Arabian elements, ceramic coatings, plaster applications, decorative paintings and works made of wood and wrought iron are the main elements used by Gaudí in the construction of the house and are notable for their ornamentation.
Our family has had the pleasure of staying at this museum of a house several times and it has always been a highlight of any trip. It was only natural that during my beginnings as a segmenter, that I pay a small tribute to Gaudi. This turning combines many different styles or design elements, much like one of Gaudi’s buildings.
